How do we become shining stars in a crooked and perverse generation? We must become…

#3 Stars of One Purpose

Verse 9 also tells us: “It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.”

This star stopped at Jesus. The star which God used was a star that stopped at Jesus! When it came to the place where Jesus lay, it stood still. It became fixed and immovable.

Have you stopped at Jesus?

We need to live in such a way that people know where to find us. I’m done searching. I’ve found Him. The quest is over. As for me and my house, we are going to spend our lives with Christ!

You see, Jesus is the beginning and the END. He’s the place where you put a big PERIOD. It stops with Him.

He is the first and the LAST. He’s the place of new birth and new beginnings, and He’s the final place of rest. When I find Him, I am HOME.

He is where I discover who I really am. He is my identity, my security, and my life. All of my dreams, desires, joys and desires find their satisfaction in HIM.

This is why we can join the psalmist in declaring, “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.”
Psalm 57:7

The apostle Paul exhorted us to be “steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15:58)

During this Christmas holiday season, make sure your feet are planted firmly on the reason for the season, JESUS CHRIST our SAVIOR.

#2 Stars of One Pursuit

The Bible tells us in verse 9: “And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem.”

This star pursued Jesus. It was not a static signpost only pointing the way.

We pursue that which we are passionate about. We pursue what we prize.

Our love for Jesus is authenticated by the passion of the pursuit. Does our profession match our pursuit?

Do we love in words only or is our love revealed by how we pursue Jesus with our lives.

You see, it is a natural, normal thing for the creature to want to have relationship with the Creator who gave it existence. I want to know and enjoy the one who gave me life! The Bible says that we are to be imitators of God just like little children seek to emulate their earthly fathers. I want to know Christ and I want to be like Him.

We can also see that this star not only pursued Christ but it also led others to Him. In like fashion, our lives should lead others to Jesus. We should be like Andrew, who “found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah.” And he brought him to Jesus.” (John 1:41)

If your family, friends, and relatives follow you will they end up at Christ?

During this Christmas holiday season, renew your single-minded pursuit of Christ and your commitment to bring others with you.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

Notice the passage says it was “HIS star.” We can follow the example of this star as it reveals the kind of “stars” we are to be in the service of our Savior & King.

God’s will is that we “become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.
(Philippians 2:15, NIV)

How do we become shining stars in a crooked and perverse generation? We must become…

#1. Stars of One Person

Out of the numberless army of stars, this star was created to herald the coming of the Messiah. It was His star. It existed for His glory. It had a unique purpose.

We need to be stars of One Person. We must be His star.

Have you given your heart and your life to Jesus, the Messiah? Do you belong exclusively to Him?

Is your life shining for His glory?

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, what better gift to give Him than the gift of yourself! Determine to become HIS star!
