Time for Obama to be Tebowed

December 13th, 2011 4 comments

“Tebowed.” It’s a new term to describe what happens on a football field when quarterback Tim Tebow and his Denver Broncos look awful for the first three quarters before they come roaring from behind to beat you in miraculous fashion in the fourth, and final, period. When it comes to the 2012 election, I believe it’s time for President Obama to experience a political “Tebow.”

For three years now this administration has aggressively trampled the religious liberties of the American people. Like NFL bad boy Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions, Obama has pummeled the free expression of faith in the public arena, choosing to ignore league rules, in this case the Constitution. To make matters worse, after repeated knock downs in the arena of religious liberty, the last six months have been the NFL’s version of the flagrant foul. Consider the secular assault on faith in since June 2011 (Facts presented by my friends at the Family Research Council):

• Navy officials ban Bibles and religious materials from Walter Reed Military Medical Center as part of new patient guidelines for wounded warriors (9/2011)

• The Pentagon releases new regulations, forcing chaplains to perform same-sex “weddings” despite their religious objections (9/2011)

• Secretary Hillary Clinton demonizes other countries’ religious beliefs as an obstacle to radical homosexual rights (12/2011)

• The Department of Veterans Affairs censors references to God and Jesus during prayers at Houston National Cemetery (6/2011)

• Officials at Health and Human Services denied funding for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ successful program for sex trafficking victims because of the church’s teaching on human life (11/2011)

• The Marine Corps consider tearing down a Camp Pendleton cross meant to honor fallen heroes (11/2011)

• Air Force officials strip religious curriculum from a 20-year-old course on “just war theory” (9/2011)

• HHS unveils new health care rules that ignore basic conscience protections for medical workers with faith-based objections to abortion and contraception (8/2011)

• Administration officials refuse to intervene in the closing of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (12/2011)
• President Obama lobbies for the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which tramples on the faith of employers in hiring, firing, and promotion decisions (10/2011)

• The Air Force Academy turns its back on needy children because a charity has religious ties (11/2011)

Ironically, in the midst of the most vicious assault on religious liberty in our nation’s history, we have Tim Tebow proudly displaying his faith in public for all the world to see! The irony of it all is that if he was employed in a government job, he’d be silenced. If he was a public school teacher he’d be sent to the principal’s office. If he worked in corporate America he’d be banished to six weeks of sensitivity training. But God has raised him up in a football league and given him a massive platform, perhaps to remind us all that America is the one place in the world where Christians have the right to share their faith publicly.

We may have taken the beating of our lives for the first three quarters of the Obama reign, but the game’s not over. We’re entering the fourth quarter. It’s Tebow time for President Obama and his secular cronies.

Obama, Clinton Promote Gay Rights Over Religious Liberty

In my work as the Executive Director of the Indiana Pastors Alliance, I have been traveling across Indiana warning pastors and Christians alike of the serious and unprecedented threat to religious liberty we are currently facing with the push for same-sex marriage in America. The question before us is very clear: “Will we honor the unalienable right to religious liberty, a right that is the cornerstone of all the other freedoms we enjoy as Americans, or will we allow the push for unfettered sexual expression to prevail, no matter how bizarre, twisted or perverse that behavior may be.

For the Obama regime, this question is a no-brainer. Our Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has been irritating nations across the globe on her crusade as the homosexual rights high priestess. In a recent speech to the United Nations, Clinton highlighted the problem of “religious and cultural beliefs…standing in the way of homosexual human rights worldwide.” On the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a day historically devoted to the defense of traditional human rights such as the sanctity of life and religious liberty, our Secretary of State used her bully pulpit to shame countries who oppose homosexuality because of their commitment to biblical values.

This should be cause for great alarm for all Christians. When religious liberty comes into conflict with the radical agenda of the LGBT activists you can be assured of one thing: religious liberty will lose, at least as long as the Obama administration is in power.

Our Founding Fathers had a word for this: TYRANNY. While we stand against the mistreatment of those who are struggling with the sin of homosexuality and believe they should be equally protected under the law as citizens of the United States of America, we nonetheless, reject the administration’s misguided attempts to normalize a lifestyle which God calls perverse.

Stand for Marriage – Honor the Law

February 24th, 2011 No comments

Yesterday, President Obama did something that is unprecedented, unbelievable and un-American. He instructed our Department of Justice to completely ignore the law of the land, specifically The Defense of Marriage Act. This piece of legislation was overwhelmingly supported by the American people and by Congress and became law in 1996 during the Clinton administration.

As law, DOMA does two very important things: First of all, it protects each state from being forced to honor marriage policies from another state, particularly those who have attempted to re-define marriage. Additionally, DOMA defines marriage as only between a man and a woman (I know…who would have dreamed marriage needed a definition).

President Obama “opposes DOMA and believes it should be repealed.” That’s fine. He is entitled to his opinion, however, he does not have the authority to unilaterally make laws or disregard laws that have been enacted by Congress. In fact, the President took an oath where he promised to uphold the Constitution and to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

So what can we do? What must we do?

We must call on Congress to remind the President of his reckless and illegal behavior and force him to do the job He swore on oath before GOD and the American people to perform.

I urge you to pick up your phone immediately and call your U.S. Representative at the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Express your outrage over this incident!

Then forward this blog to as many people as you can. Our liberty depends upon it!
