I love talk radio! Every time I have a chance to do a live talk radio interview I come alive. I feel the rush of cultural transformation flowing through my veins. So you could image how fired up I was last Thursday to have the privilege of being interviewed on The Peter Heck Show.
For those of us from “da Region,” you may not know who Peter is or what he does so let me tell you about him. He’s an award winning government teacher by day in a public high school and a talk radio host in the afternoons on 1350AM, WIOU in Kokomo. In addition, Peter is an sought-after public speaker. He has been the featured and keynote speaker at numerous events. His two 4-part series, America’s Foundation of Faith and Pillars of the Faith, have been presented at churches throughout the country. Peter shares my passion for Jesus and for the need to teach people to think from a biblical worldview perspective.
The purpose of my interview was to discuss the role of the Church and Christians in public life, and politics in particular. If you’d like to listen to the interview, go to Peter’s website at: www.peterheck.com/peterheck/audio and select the Thursday, March 4 show. Right click on segment 6 and save the file to your computer. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Evidently, this interview led to a wonderful flurry of phone calls from listeners. Enjoy!
The President’s 7 hour info-mercial was a failed attempt to breath life in a healthcare bill that derserves the death sentence. Bad policy is one thing, but bad character takes the problem to a whole new level. In short, the President lied.
During the White House Summit on Health Care, the President denied the fact that abortion is part of the plan. In responding to a claim by Minority Leader John Boehner that the health care legislation will fund abortion, President Obama dismissed it as talking points and “untrue.” House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi alsojoined the cover up by inaccurately responding that the health bills do not fund abortion.
My friend, Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, tells the truth about the proposed taxpayer funding of abortion under Obamacare:
“The fact is, the President’s proposal to amend the Senate bill leaves several abortion provisions in place: in Section 1303 it allows tax credit subsides for plans that include abortion and leaves the abortion charge for these plans in place. It maintains the proposal to create a statewide plan that includes abortion in Sec. 1334. But it’s worse: it would actually increase the Senate bill funding from $7 billion to $11 billion for community health centers in Sec. 10503 without any abortion funding restrictions.”
When our elected officials lack Christian character, the whole legislative process becomes a sham. The Bible is clear about the type of person who should lead:
“But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes” (Exodus 18:21).
Our responsibility as Christian citizens is to make sure we do all we can to elect people who are capable and honest and who walk in the fear of the Lord. We failed. Let’s not make the same mistake next time around.
