World-changing Teams
All these men of war, who could keep ranks, came to Hebron with a loyal heart, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were of one mind to make David king.
1 Chronicles 12:38 (New King James Version)
I’ll be preaching this Sunday on the topic of, “God’s Dream Team.” I have been amazed at the power of small bands of individuals, gathered together around a common cause, to literally transform history!
Take King David as an example. When God wants to further His Dream in the earth, he raises up a man or a woman with His vision and then He gathers people around that individual who are called to the same task. He doesn’t gather perfect people with everything together. Consider the crew who gathered around King David:
And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.(1 Samuel 2:22)
It is ironic that those who are most motivated to be a part of change are those who are most desperate! The comfortable and contented rarely accomplish anything great.
While they shared much distress, debt and discontentment, they also shared a common goal. The Bible says they were committed to making David King.
Now we know David is an Old Testament picture of a much greater King, the King of kings and the Lord of all lords, Jesus Christ. Jesus is gathering His sons and daughters together for the purpose of establishing His Kingdom in the earth! He is looking for those who are committed to making Him King.
I hope you can join us this Sunday to hear more!
