The Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience

By now many of you have become aware of this important document which was released just prior to Thanksgiving and signed by over 150 leaders representing Evangelical Christianity, Catholicism, and Orthodox Christianity. This joint statement boldly confronts the current administration’s strident attack on religious liberty, faith and  freedom.

The seven-page document closes with this strong statement of conviction: “Because we honor justice and the common good, we will not comply with any edict that purports to compel our institutions to participate in abortions, embryo destructive research, assisted suicide and euthanasia, or any other anti-life act; nor will we bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family. We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. But under no circumstances will we render to Caesar what is God’s.”

I signed the document and I encourage you to read the document and to do the same (manhattandeclaration.org). I, like many of you, have been deeply concerned as to what I personally would do if this atrocious, ungodly and unconstitutional socialized health care monstrosity becomes the law of the land. We would be “mandated” (forced) to buy into the plan and to spend our dollars in support of government sponsored murder (abortion). The Manhattan Declaration is a strong, yet clear, warning that we will not obey these wicked policies if they become the law of the land. I trust it sends a strong message to those who are trampling on our religious liberty.
